Equality, until the policy starts

Where do people support gender equality in principle but resist the policies required to produce it?

PlannedFlagshipResearch question, not a published result

The question

Look for agreement on equal treatment and disagreement over the measures, costs and responsibilities it implies.

What the analysis will test

Primary quantity
Item-validated principle-policy differences in the Round 11 gender module.
Evidence
ESS rounds 11. Modules: gender.
Primary comparison
Equality implementation-gap comparison. The final form depends on validated data and uncertainty.
Publication threshold
Pinned source editions, reviewed questionnaire comparability, survey-design-aware intervals, disclosure checks and reproducible aggregate outputs.

What this evidence does not prove

An apparent gap can reflect different question wording or policy preferences, not necessarily inconsistent beliefs.

The ESS interviews different probability samples in each round. It measures structural differences and change, not today's mood or the same individuals over time.
